Damien MillerWhy did you choose Franklin College and the FC MSAT program?

I chose Franklin because I liked the small classes. I felt as though the smaller classes would best prepare me for my future and for athletic training. The FC MSAT program is top tier in Indiana, and I knew I would be pushed to succeed.

What made you choose athletic training as a profession?

I chose athletic training because I am truly interested in the human body, I love sports and I enjoy helping people. Athletic training combines all three of these!

What was most appealing to you about Franklin College’s MSAT program when you were making your decision on where to pursue your post-graduate degree?

The most appealing thing to me was the high graduation rate and how well FC prepares the students for the BOC exam.

Please describe your relationships and interactions with the Franklin College MSAT faculty.

The FC MSAT faculty are very kind. They are inviting and always welcoming students in for questions. They push you to succeed because they want to see the best that you have.

What specific clinical experience rotations have you had as part of the MSAT?

So far, I have been at Southport High School, Select Physical Therapy and athletics at Franklin College. The sites and preceptors were very welcoming, easy-going and willing to help with my education however they can.

What do you feel distinguishes the Franklin College MSAT program from others?

The way that the MSAT program really prepares you for the real world and far exceeds what I saw from other colleges.

What can you tell us about how a master’s degree in athletic training prepares students for a career in the health field?

A master’s degree requires students to delve deeper into the human body. We learn so much more than we did at the undergraduate level because of the depth we go into. The 3+2 option Franklin College provides a great base at the undergraduate level while also preparing students for the depth of the master’s program.

What career interests do you have as a future athletic trainer?

After leaving Franklin College I have an interest in continuing my education by obtaining a PhD so I can to teach future professionals in a similar program.

What areas are you interested in researching during the MSAT program?

Researching the shoulder interests me, as well as differences in training techniques on power movements.
