What is it?

CampGRIZ is an academic summer camp bringing together students entering 6th-9th grade for the Fall 2023 school year. Campers will learn from Franklin College faculty in the areas of science, technology, engineering, mathematics and the arts, while also interacting with Franklin College students and alumni in order to gain a real-world perspective on the benefits of higher education. CampGRIZ is committed to preparing youth for their future with the information, resources and mindset to experience the world with curiosity, understanding, and self-confidence.

When is it?

June 12 – 16, 2023

CampGRIZ will be held on the Franklin College campus June 12 -16, 2023 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The fee is $275. If your student qualifies for the free/reduced lunch program through school their camp fee may be waived upon verification.

Who is it for?

CampGRIZ is designed for youth entering 6th– 9th grades for the Fall 2023 school year.

What will I do?

There are five hands-on learning experiences to choose from at CampGRIZ.

 

Dinosaurs — Let’s Dig It! — Working with real fossils, learn the components of paleontology and how to analyze clues in order to discover more about the world in which the dinosaurs lived.

Creative Writing — Work with published authors in order to learn the form, structure, and components of storytelling and then create a story of your own.

Catapults and Trebuchets — Apply engineering design process to construct working catapults of various sizes.

Data For Good — Discover how to use and interact with digital information in order to create a positive impact on the world.

Digital Photography — Using state-of-the-art equipment, apply the principles of photography to produce your own photographic masterpiece.

When does registration open?

Registration is now open for summer 2023.

How do I apply?

Paperwork can be submitted through this webpage or by mail. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Acceptance to your camp of choice is not guaranteed until your paperwork has been processed.

Transportation

Franklin College is committed to making CampGRIZ accessible to students in Marion County. Free bus transportation from KIPP Indy College Prep will be provided for students who are interested. KIPP Indy College Prep is located at 1740 E. 30th St., Indianapolis, IN 46218.

Before & After Care

Free before and after care will be provided by the Boys & Girls Club of Johnson County.
