June 22, 2021 – Additional Information About Fall Semester Vaccine Status

Greetings, Grizzlies!

This message is a follow up to President Prather’s video released last week. As indicated, we are collecting information on students’ vaccination status so we can continue to make the best possible decisions regarding students’ health and safety. While we are not requiring students to receive the vaccine, there may be restrictions and limitations for unvaccinated students. Please see below for an indication of some distinctions that will be made between vaccinated and unvaccinated students; these distinctions are in place only to ensure student safety and subject to change pending additional guidance from the CDC or local health officials:

We anticipate that students who are fully vaccinated in the fall:

  • Will NOT have to participate in surveillance testing (unless required for athletic compliance)
  • Will NOT have to quarantine if identified through contact tracing (unless symptomatic)
  • Will NOT have to wear masks indoors or outdoors
  • Will NOT have to practice social distancing
  • Will be eligible for study away programs

Conversely, we anticipate that students who are unvaccinated in the fall:

  • WILL be required to participate in surveillance testing (at their own expense; details about cost and frequency of testing to be announced)
  • WILL be required to isolate or quarantine, off campus, if positive or identified through contact tracing
  • MAY have to wear masks indoors in some circumstances
  • MAY have to practice social distancing in some circumstances
  • Will NOT be eligible for study away programs

All students who have uploaded documentation of full vaccination (2 doses of Pfizer or Moderna, or 1 dose of Johnson & Johnson), will be entered into a raffle to win prizes including:

(10) $100 gifts card to the bookstore

(2) Designated parking spots in residential parking

(1) free meal plan for the year

ALL students, regardless of vaccine status: please use the following link to indicate your vaccination plans and status and to upload your vaccination documentation if appropriate: Vaccination Status Form (forms-db.com)

As always, please let me know if you have questions. We can’t wait to see you back on campus in the fall for a more normal semester. In the meantime, enjoy your summer!
