On April 15, 2020, Franklin College entered into an agreement with the U.S. Department of Education in an effort to provide assistance to students who have been adversely impacted by the recent COVID-19 pandemic as it relates to the disruption of campus operations as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. Franklin College assures that no less than 50 percent of the funds received under the CARES Act will be used to provide Emergency Relief Grants to roughly 800 eligible students. The Emergency Relief Grant funds – totaling $535,937 – were received from the U.S. Department of Education on April 30, 2020.

On January 17, 2021, Franklin College received supplemental funding through the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSA) Act enacted by Congress this past December. Franklin College assures that no less than $535,937 of these funds will be used to provide Emergency Relief Grants to eligible students who have been adversely impacted by the pandemic resulting in the need for assistance to cover related costs/expenses such as tuition/fees, food, housing, health care (including mental health care), and/or child care. The College has identified roughly 850 students who may qualify for assistance. Per the CRRSA Act statute, distributions must be prioritized by demonstrated financial need. To document a student’s demonstrated financial need, a FAFSA must be on file with the Office of Financial Aid.

Franklin College assures that no less than $1,375,404 of these funds will be used to provide Emergency Relief Grants to eligible students who have been adversely impacted by the pandemic resulting in the need for assistance to cover Cost of Attendance (COA) related expenses such as tuition/fees, food, housing, health care (including mental health care), and/or child care. The college has identified roughly 900 students who may qualify for assistance. Per the ARP Act statute, distributions will be prioritized by demonstrated financial need.
