Coronavirus Update – Jan. 26, 2022

Updates to Fortify Franklin and reentry reminder – Jan. 26, 2022

Dear Students,

I hope you had a great winter break and are looking forward to returning to campus for spring semester. I write with important updates to the Fortify Franklin policy. In an effort to effectively execute reentry testing, and while we evaluate those results with our consulting physicians, we are reinstituting a masking requirement—for both vaccinated and unvaccinated students—in all public, indoor spaces effective Sunday, January 30th – Sunday, February 13th.

I want to emphasize that this requirement is both temporary, and to be taken seriously. Students failing to comply with masking requirements may be reported here and may be subject to the student conduct process.

Finally, please see reminder below from Associate Dean Kat Dennehy about reentry requirements for unvaccinated students. As always, please feel free to reach out to Kat or me if you have any questions.

We’re excited to welcome you back to campus for a great spring semester!

Best wishes,

Dr. Andrew B. Jones
Vice President for Student Development & Dean of Students

Spring 2022 Re-Entry for Unvaccinated Students – Jan. 25, 2022

Greetings,

This message is for students who are unvaccinated and registered for Spring 2022. Below, you will find the requirements for re-entry. Vaccinated students currently do not need to submit any tests for re-entry and can disregard this message. There is a lot of information in this message. Please make sure to read through it all as I hope to have answered all of your questions.

All unvaccinated students are required to submit a covid test result by 5:00 pm on Monday, January 31, 2022. Students who do not submit a test by this time will not be permitted to attend classes until we have your submission. We recognize that classes begin on Monday but are giving you a day of grace to get in compliance. Your COVID test must be between Wednesday, January 26, and Monday, January 31st. Please note that many sites have been taking anywhere between 3-7 business days before students are getting their results. Additionally, compass park is only providing PCR test for students over 18 and under 50 years old. Due to these challenges, the college has decided to offer the following options to students who are unable to schedule a test off campus.

Bring your own at-home test to the campus clinic

Students who are able to obtain an over the counter, at home test may bring it UN-OPENED to the campus nurse where she will administer your test and report back your test result to me. Please use this link to sign up for a time on either this Friday or Next Monday. Signup for a time here. It is required to sign up in advance so that our nurse can plan accordingly. Please do not walk in and expect that she will be able to accommodate you immediately.

  • IMPORTANT: At home tests administered on your own will not be accepted. You will be required to provide a test result from a medical professional.

Test on campus with the athletic trainers

Our athletic trainers have offered to provide testing times on Friday and Monday for students who need a test. A $15 charge will be applied to your student account if you choose to use this option. You must sign up in advance if you choose to use this option. The trainers will report results to us. You do not need to submit any results if you use this option. Please sign up here

Submit your test here

Students who are testing off campus may submit their test results here.

In-Season Unvaccinated Athletes

Rosters are not published until after the semester has started. If you are an in-season athlete currently being tested, please let me know so that I can check with the Athletic Department for your results. You do not need to obtain a separate test.

Are you fully vaccinated?

Students are considered fully vaccinated if they are 2 weeks out from their 2nd dose (1 dose of J&J). You can upload your vaccination status card here.

If you have any questions, please let me know.
