As you have heard in previous communications from the college, we are doing everything we can this fall to keep our students and faculty safe on campus including insuring proper physical distancing in classrooms. This effort to maintain proper distance obviously reduces our capacity in our classrooms, so we are thinking creatively to utilize additional spaces as classrooms. This also requires us to be very strategic in placing courses into spaces with capacity as the highest priority, which means faculty may need to move across campus for back-to-back classes rather than staying in the same building. We also want to reduce traffic flow and provide time to wipe down work areas between classes.
All of these factors have led us to alter our normal scheduling grid for the fall semester so that we have a minimum of 15 minutes between each class period. The updated time grid is below. Please note that the first class of each day will now start at 7:45 am rather than 8:00 am. Times highlighted in gray are changes from our normal schedule. [see chart at bottom of page]
We have not yet changed the times on courses in Self-Service, so your current schedule in Self-Service will not reflect this change. You should also note that room assignments are very tentative at this point, so you should continue to check for room updates up through the day that classes start on Aug. 31st.
New spaces that you may not be familiar with are:
If you have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
