Coronavirus Update – April 23

Dear Franklin College resident students,

Thank you for your patience while we have navigated many different aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic and its effect on your Franklin College experience.  I am pleased to see the expert manner in which our faculty quickly transitioned to the delivery of our curriculum remotely, and I’m even more proud of how well our students adapted to that new reality.  Congratulations to you all.

Due to the unexpected required absence from campus, we are crediting back to resident student accounts the room and board charges for the period between March 14, 2020, and the end of the spring semester.  Those credits should be posted on or before May 15, 2020.  If there is currently a balance due on the student’s account, this credit will be applied toward that balance.  If the credit results in overpayment on the account, the amount credited will be carried forward and applied to the student’s room and board charges for fall semester 2020-2021.

Graduating seniors with a credit that results in overpayment on the account after addressing any balance due will receive the credit via a check that will also be mailed on or before May 15, 2020 (please ensure that the College has your correct mailing address).  For the small number of students who needed to remain on campus, any applicable account adjustments will be calculated and processed after the end of the spring semester.

Franklin College will continue to deliver full instructional content for the remainder of the academic year via distance learning to all its students.  The College will also continue to provide all of the traditional support services and engagement opportunities with faculty and staff.  Accordingly, there will be no tuition credits for spring semester.

If students have questions about this account adjustment process, please contact the Business Office at (317) 738-8035.

I wish you all a strong and successful conclusion to the semester, and I look forward to welcoming you back to campus in person in August.  Thank you for your conscientious attention to your academic work during these challenging weeks.

Best wishes,

Kerry Prather
