Music department accompanist
I have spent my entire career in education. I have taught music in the public schools, grades K-12, where I directed concert and show choirs, directed several high school musicals, taught general music K-6, and taught beginning band.
As a school counselor and dean of students, I developed and implemented a character education program, a crisis response team, an at-risk program, a tutoring program, and led and supervised various counseling groups. I served on a North Central visitation team and also chaired a North Central Self-Study Team.
During my 12 years as an elementary school principal, I used my counseling experience to create a positive discipline program which helped students become responsible for their behavior and learn the connection between choices and consequences. I led staff retreats and professional development learning communities and facilitated student intervention program to meet individual student needs.
Music is a very important part of a Liberal Arts Education and allows students to become part of a group as they develop a life-long love of music. We are surrounded by music every day and students who participate in music while in college can gain an appreciation and understanding of music so they can better enjoy it for the rest of their lives.

“My experience having worked with Mama Judy (a.k.a Janice True) is absolutely spectacular. She is one of the most caring and flexible people you will ever meet. I cannot say enough about how much she does for the soloists and choirs. She is absolutely a gem to have for Franklin College and she could never be replaced!” – Christian Bowling ’19
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family (which includes 14 grandchildren), walking, and traveling.
