Franklin College’s music department will welcome several guest musicians to campus for recitals this fall.
Each event is free and open to the public.
Clare Longendyke, lecturer of music and director of the college’s piano studio, provided the following information about the performers:
- Pianist Haewon Yang will visit campus at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, in Richardson Chapel. She will perform “The Music of Chopin and Liszt,” which will present songs by 19th Century composers Frederic Chopin and Franz Liszt.
- Starting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018, in Richardson Chapel, Mingfei Li and friends will present a chamber music recital. The five musicians, including pianists and string instrument players, will perform “Trout” by Austrian composer Franz Schubert.
- Dominic Muzzi, an associate instructor of secondary piano at Indiana University Bloomington, will play Russian pianist Sergei Rachmaninov’s “Piano Concerto No. 1.” The performance will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018, in Custer Theater.
- Joanne Chang and Wai Ki Wun will perform together at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018, in Richardson Chapel. Chang, a pianist, and Wai Ki Wun, a clarinetist, will perform various pieces to showcase their skills on each instrument. Their performance will include works by French composer Francis Poulenc, Austrian composer Alban Berg and others.
