Jeremy VanAndel has joined Franklin College as the founding director of the Hive at Franklin College and an instructor of business.
The Hive is one of five engaged learning areas within the college’s Ruth Lilly Center for Exploration and will be located on campus in the Andrews-Dietz House. The Hive supports student consulting services, business and ideas incubation, and creative play and experimentation. In his new role, VanAndel collaborates with students, faculty and academic departments in delivering community-connected, immersive and applied learning experiences that are the hallmarks of the Pursuit at Franklin College curriculum. As an instructor of business, he teaches courses in marketing and consumer behavior.
VanAndel brings more than 10 years of previous senior leadership experience, including positions in development and marketing with IndyReads and its affiliate IndyReads Books, as well as with the Humane Society of Indianapolis. He contributed to significant fundraising successes for both nonprofits. He also brings experience in hotel management and human resources.
“We are very excited to have Jeremy join us in both of his roles. He will bring valuable experience and insight to the business classroom, and his vision for the Hive is inspiring for students, faculty, and community members alike,” said Lori Schroeder, Ph.D., provost and dean of the college. “Jeremy is a gifted leader ready to guide our students in the collective spirit of innovation and collaboration while epitomizing some of the most distinctive goals of our newly reimagined college curriculum.”
VanAndel holds a Bachelor of Arts in hospitality and tourism management from Indiana University Purdue University-Fort Wayne and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Indianapolis.
