The Franklin College Music Department has announced the dates of two chamber concerts in November. Both the vocal and instrumental concerts will be held in the Clarence E. And Inez R. Custer Theatre in Old Main. The performances are free and open to the public.

The vocal chamber recital will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2. The performance will feature the voice students of Eric DeForest, D.M.A., assistant professor of music, and will be complemented by accompanist Chang Shen on piano.

The instrumental chamber recital will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 7. Performances will showcase the students of Kati Harrison, lecturer of music; Rachel Jackson, lecturer of music and director of piano studies; Jonathan D. Rice, D.M.A., instructor of music theory and applied woodwinds; and Ross Venneberg, D.M.A.,  visiting assistant professor of music and director of instrumental activities.

“Chamber concerts enable the individual student to step out onto the stage and shine. They are a highlight of the music studios here at Franklin College, showing the diverse talent that makes up the Franklin College Music Department,” said Professor Casey J. Hayes, Ph.D., A.J. Thurston Endowed Chair of Music, music department chair and director of choral activities.
