More than $3 Million Offered in Scholarships During One-Day Event on Campus
Campus News

Franklin College hosted its time-honored Ben Franklin Scholars Day in December, welcoming students from Indiana and numerous states to campus to compete for the college’s top scholarships.

The competition drew 132 high-achieving and academically resilient participants. The college awarded $3,116,200 in scholarships from the one-day event.

“We were very impressed with the turnout and caliber of students who attended our Scholars Day,” said Andrew Hendricks, MBA, vice president for enrollment and marketing. “These are some of the brightest students, and we are confident their experience at Franklin College will produce even greater dividends. The event represented the largest amount in scholarships the college has ever awarded in a single day. Every student who attended walked away with a significant scholarship renewable over their four years at Franklin.”

Those competing for the awards were required to have been previously admitted into the college and to have a 3.9 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale at the time of admission.

Throughout the day, each student participated in an interview with a Franklin College faculty or staff member, wrote a short-answer essay and participated in a group project. Each participant was scored based on these elements and the scholarship award winners were determined based on the overall scores. Within two weeks, students were notified of their Ben Franklin Scholarship offer which is added to any merit scholarships they may have already been awarded by the college.

The college plans to host another Ben Franklin Scholars Day on Saturday, March 2, 2024, to accommodate those who were unable to attend in December. Scholarships will range up to full tuition, and eligible seniors can still apply for the opportunity to compete for these coveted awards.
