Events and Lectures

The Franklin College Music Department will host three performances in December. All concerts will be held in the Clarence E. & Inez R. Custer Theatre in Old Main, located at the corner of Branigin Blvd. and Monroe Street. The events are free and open to the public.

Fall-Holiday Choral Concerts:

The choral concerts will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2 and at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3. The performances will feature the Franklin College Men’s Chorus, Women’s Chorus and the FC Singers.

The choral concerts will be directed by Casey J. Hayes, Ph.D., professor of music and A.J. Thurston Endowed Chair of Music. The concerts will feature the voice students of Eric DeForest, D.M.A., assistant professor of music.  The performances will be accompanied by Chang Shen on piano.

 Fall-Holiday Instrumental Concert:

The instrumental concert will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8. The performance will showcase the FC wind ensemble, FC string ensemble and the FC percussion ensemble. The groups are under the direction of Casey J. Hayes, Ph.D. and Ross Venneberg, D.M.A.

The Instrumental Concert will feature: the brass students of Ross Venneberg, D.M.A., visiting professor of music and director of instrumental activities; the string students of Kati Harrison, lecturer of music; the piano students of Rachel Jackson, lecturer of music and director of piano studies; the woodwind students of Johnathan Rice, D.M.A., instructor of music theory and applied woodwinds; and the percussion students of Josh Torres, lecturer of music.
