The Franklin College Music Department will host several concerts this spring, in April and May. All concerts will be held in the Clarence E. & Inez R. Custer Theatre in Old Main, located at the corner of Branigin Blvd. and Monroe Street. The events are free and open to the public.
Concert dates include:
The vocal chamber concert will feature the voice students of Eric DeForest, D.M.A., assistant professor of music. The performances will be accompanied by Chang Shen on piano.
The instrumental chamber concert will feature the students of Kati Harrison, lecturer of music; Rachel Jackson, lecturer of music and director of piano studies; Johathan Rice, D.M.A., instructor of music theory and applied woodwinds; Joshua Torres, lecturer of music and Ross Venneberg, D.M.A., visiting assistant professor of music and director of instrumental activities.
The instrumental concerts will feature the FC Wind Ensemble, FC String Ensemble and the FC Percussion Ensemble. The groups are under the direction of Casey J. Hayes, Ph.D., professor and A.J. Thurston Endowed Chair of Music, music department chair and director of choral activities and Ross Venneberg, D.M.A.
The choral concerts will showcase the Franklin College Men’s Chorus, Women’s Chorus and the FC Singers. The choral concerts will be directed by Casey J. Hayes, Ph.D.
