Franklin College’s annual Homecoming and Alumni Week festivities will take place Tuesday, Sept. 26 through Sunday, Oct. 1. Registration, when required, is available online at alumni.franklincollege.edu/ or by calling (317) 738-8040. The deadline for registration is Thursday, Sept. 21.

The highlights of Homecoming and Alumni Week festivities include:

Virtual 5K, Tuesday, Sept. 26 – Sunday, Oct. 1

Join Grizzlies and friends in spirit as you complete a 5K run on your own. Post your photo within the Homecoming & Alumni Week on the Franklin College Alumni Association Facebook page for a chance to win free swag! The event is free.

Inaugural Faculty and Alumni Art Exhibit, Wednesday, Sept. 27

View the artwork of the Franklin College art faculty as well as alumni artists during the hours of 6-10 p.m. in the Elba L. & Gene Portteus Branigin Atrium of the Johnson Center for Fine Arts. The exhibit will also be accessible to visitors on Saturday, Sept. 30 from 10 a.m. to noon or through a pre-scheduled appointment, Monday –Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., by calling (317) 738-8271.

Volleyball and Women’s Soccer in Action, Wednesday, Sept. 27

Come to campus to cheer on the volleyball team in Spurlock Center at 6:30 p.m., and the women’s soccer team as they take the field in Faught Stadium at 7 p.m. General admission to each contest through Eventlink is $8 ($5 for ages 65 and older). Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet, Thursday, Sept. 28 at 6:30 p.m.

Alumni and friends are invited to join the celebration of a long tradition of athletic excellence. Alumni Dan Fell ’73 (posthumously), Mike Hall ’69 and Dawn (Privette) McNew ’87 will be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame as 2022 inductees and Joel Taylor ’92 will be inducted as a 2023 inductee. The banquet will be held in the Branigin Room of the Napolitan Student Center. Registration is required. Cost is $20 per person.

Roy E. Tillotson Alumni Golf Tournament, Friday, Sept 29 at 11 a.m.

The Roy E. Tillotson Alumni Golf Tournament will be held at Hillview Country Club in Franklin. Registration begins at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start at noon. The registration fee of $100 per player includes green fees, cart, snacks, drinks, appetizers and prizes. Registration is required.

1973 Class Reunion Old Gold Reception and Luncheon, Friday, Sept. 29 at 11:30 a.m.

Honoring the 50th reunion class of 1973, this traditional reception and luncheon is open to all alumni graduating in or prior to 1973. The luncheon will be held in the Dietz Center Dining Room in the Dietz Center for Professional Development. Cost is $15 per person and registration is required. Members of the class of 1973 will receive two complimentary tickets when registering.

Tours of Franklin’s 1st Distillery – The Haberdasher, Friday, Sept. 29

Owned by alumni Brooks ’13 and Lauren ’14 Bemis, The Haberdasher’s cocktail lounge and gift shop will be open and the 45-minute tours will begin at 4:15 p.m. or 8:15 p.m. Each tour includes a complimentary tasting. Free to attend; space is limited. Registration is required. The Haberdasher will also be open on Saturday, Sept. 30 from 4-7 p.m.

Celebration of Life Service for Yolanda (Yo-Yo) Askew ’90, Friday, Sept. 29 at 4 p.m.

Join fellow Grizzlies in Richardson Chapel as we pause to celebrate the life of Yolanda “Yo-Yo” Askew, class of 1990. Askew passed away in May 2023. She was a member of the Franklin College Board of Trustees, serving from October 2021 to the time of her passing.   

Hail to Franklin Alumni Awards Presentation and Reception, Friday, Sept. 29 at 6 p.m.
Join Kerry N. Prather, Franklin College President, as he presents the 2023 Alumni Awards at the Garment Factory Events in Franklin. Since 1954, the Alumni Council of Franklin College has had an established award program designed to honor alumni and friends of the college, recognizing outstanding professional/community achievement as well as service to the college. Those to be honored include Don Treibic ’65, Hail to Franklin Award; Shannon (Baunach) Anderson ’95, Distinguished Alumni Award; Matt Taylor ’08, Young Alumni Award. Dr. Terry Bissonnette and Mike Leonard will each be honored with an Associate Alumni Award. Registration is required. Free to attend.

All Alumni/Class Reunion Gathering, Friday, Sept. 29 from 7-10 p.m.

Join fellow alumni at the Garment Factory Events in Franklin for an informal gathering. Snacks will be provided by the Franklin College Alumni Council. A limited menu and cash bar will be available. Registration requested. Free to attend.

Traditional Burning of the Privy, Friday, Sept. 29 at 9:45 p.m.
Join faculty, staff, students and fellow alumni for the annual privy burn at the corner of Monroe and Forsythe streets.

Book Signing by Shannon (Baunach) Anderson ’95, Saturday, Sept. 30 from 10 a.m. – Noon.

Join Anderson, near the Alumni Hospitality Table in the Napolitan Student Center, as she signs her award-winning children’s book, “I Love Strawberries.” Copies of the book will be available for purchase.

Grizzly Football vs. Bluffton Beavers, Saturday, Sept. 30 at 1:30 p.m.
The Homecoming football game will be played at Stewart “Red” Faught Stadium where the Grizzlies will take on the Bluffton Beavers. Crowning of the Homecoming royalty will be held at halftime. General admission to the game through Eventlink is $8 ($5 for ages 65 and older). Admission is free for anyone age 12 or younger and individuals with a valid FC ID.
