The Franklin College Music Department will host the Southern Indiana Taiko Drummers on campus for a concert on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
The performance will take place in the Clarence E. and Inez R. Custer Theatre on the first floor of Old Main, which is located at the corner of Branigin Blvd. and Monroe Street. Parking is available across from Old Main in the Grizzly Den Lot or diagonally from Old Man in the Branigin Lot.
Southern Indiana Taiko Inc. in Columbus, Indiana is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that creates energetic taiko performances and informational programs that educate about cultural diversity to build a more accepting and engaged community for charitable and educational purposes. Co-Executive Directors Gail Nowels and Tina Lockhart create and manage programs for Southern Indiana Taiko Inc. that include weekly classes in taiko instruction for both children and adults, workshops for corporate and small business team-building, schools, libraries, senior centers, clubs, and private workshops for small family and friend groups. The pair also performs with the Southern Indiana Taiko performance group, along with board member Lori Scrivnor.
