College Welcomes Guest Pianist Jonathan Tsay to Campus
Events and Lectures

Franklin College’s Music Department will welcome guest pianist Jonathan Tsay to campus to perform on Thursday, March 24, at 7 p.m. in Custer Theatre in Old Main. This event is free and open to the public. Guests will be required to follow institutional COVID mitigation protocols.

Tsay will perform a variety of pieces from John Corigliano, Clara Wieck, Robert Schumann, Jiang Wen-Ye, Franz Liszt and Christopher O’Riley.

Tsay is a soloist, collaborative pianist, chamber musician, producer and arts administrator who maintains an artistic career as diverse as his interests. Tsay’s recent multi-city tour of Taiwan included solo recital stops at the National Recital Hall in Taipei, Kaohsiung Music Hall, and the Pingtung Arts Center. Other solo engagements include performances for the Cliburn, Music at Southminster in Ottawa, Blanco Performing Arts, and Fine Arts Chamber Players. In 2019, Tsay was appointed visiting assistant professor at the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music at the University of Memphis.

Tsay has served as principal keyboard of the Las Colinas Symphony and the Dallas Chamber Symphony. He also serves as the artistic director of Ensemble75, a chamber music series based out of Dallas, Texas. Away from the piano bench, he is the host of the classical music podcast entitled “Between the Barlines” which explores the lives of the various personalities that make up the classical music landscape.

Tsay is also a popular masterclass teacher and will provide direction and inspiration to piano students at Franklin College prior to his concert.
