College to Serve as Host Site for Emergency Responder Training Drill
Events and Lectures

As a service to our community, Franklin College has agreed to serve as the host site of an Emergency Responder Training Drill on Saturday, July 10, 2021. Local fire, law enforcement and EMS agencies will conduct an active shooter training exercise between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon in Old Main and the surrounding area.

This 3-hour event will involve a simulation of the Johnson County response plan and procedures to help ensure a coordinated, timely and effective response and recovery in the event of a major incident in Johnson County. The preparedness level of first responders improves with each of these realistic exercises.

There will be many law enforcement, fire and EMS personnel and vehicles present during the exercise. The general public and the media have been notified by the event organizers. Since the exercise is intended to create a level of realism, it may include law enforcement firing blank rounds and victims with make-up simulating wounds.

The exercise is closed to the public but media will be covering the event. Media with questions should contact Michael Pruitt, Deputy Fire Chief for Bargersville Fire Department and the Public Information Officer for this event, at mpruitt@bcfd.net or (317) 727-7604.
