Franklin College announced its 2021-22 fundraising year was once again the most successful in recent college history, continuing to break previous fundraising records.

The fiscal year ended on June 30, 2022. Total giving to the college was $9,101,575, the second highest on record in college history. This includes pledges, planned gifts, cash gifts and real estate gifts.

Additionally, annual giving to the college’s Franklin Fund was $758,946, also the second highest in college history. This is the third consecutive year the college crossed the $700,000 mark in donations to the fund and only the third time in college history. Gifts to the Franklin Fund provide student financial aid, as well as support ongoing student learning opportunities.

The college also achieved new highs with its two 24-hour days of giving. In November, it celebrated a #GRIZTuesday campaign, raising $142,994 for college athletics. Donors exceeded the fundraising goal by 43%. The successful fundraiser earned the college a gold 2022 Circle of Excellence Award from The Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), the national organization for advancement professionals.

The momentum continued into spring, with the 10th annual #GivetoGRIZ campaign producing $298,840, an increase of nearly 7% over the previous year. Donor participation also increased by more than 4%, making it the college’s most successful single-day campaign ever.

The college also reported a significant increase in documented planned gifts compared to recent years. A planned gift is a donor’s intention to support an organization beyond their lifetime with a gift through their will or trust.

All totals represent generous gifts made by trustees, alumni, faculty, staff, parents, students, community members, friends, businesses and corporate partners.

Franklin College President Kerry N. Prather expressed his gratitude to the donors. “More than the dollars and cents, we are celebrating what our donors’ philanthropy means for our students. Their generosity is making a significant and exciting difference in the quality of the student experience at Franklin College each and every day. Their support also reflects an impressive endorsement of our mission and our product, and it loudly affirms their confidence in our future.”

“Franklin College has had a phenomenal year,” said Dana Cummings, vice president for institutional advancement. “The continued support of our donors directly impacts our students, and we are incredibly grateful for their generosity. Gifts help our students by enabling the institution to advance innovation, leadership and learning opportunities. And gifts to the Franklin Fund provide students with financial assistance, some who would not be able to attend otherwise.”

“The Franklin College family has always been incredibly strong,” said Libby Baker, a senior at the college. “The ongoing support from our alumni and donors is remarkable and has been life-changing for me. Franklin has helped me grow as an individual in countless ways that I never imagined. I could not have accomplished all that I have without the scholarships I have received. I am so thankful and proud to be part of the Franklin College family!”
