Classes Cancelled on Monday, April 3, 2023
Campus News

To the Franklin College Community,

As you are likely aware, a line of severe storms impacted several Indiana communities last night and early this morning, causing extensive damage, including in Johnson County. Thankfully, the storm resulted in no serious damage to the campus, but our facilities currently remain without electrical power.  Information from Duke Energy suggests the outage will continue into Sunday. Persistent high winds today have complicated Duke’s efforts to restore power throughout the area.

Since Duke Energy can provide no definitive timeline for restoring power to campus, classes will be cancelled on Monday, April 3, 2023, and administrative offices will be closed.  Essential employees only will receive individual direction from their supervisors. Resident students may return to campus after 2:00 pm Monday.  Classes will resume and administrative offices will reopen on Tuesday, April 4, 2023.

We are mindful that some students and their families and some employees have been directly affected by the storm as well, and we are anxious to support you in every way possible.  Students should contact the Division of Student Development staff with information that will allow us to direct appropriate campus resources to help address your immediate and longer-term needs: Vice President and Dean of Students Andrew Jones (ajones1@franklincollege.edu), Director of Religious Life and Campus Chaplain Hannah Adams-Ingram (hadamsingram@franklincollege.edu), and counselors Sarah Kinder (skinder1@franklincollege.edu) and Annie Kruse (akruse@franklincollege.edu). Employees should contact their respective Cabinet officers.

We hope you enjoyed a restful and enjoyable Spring Break and are excited to return to campus for a successful completion to the academic year. Thank you very much.
