Art Students Receive Awards at Spring Reception

The Franklin College Art Department presented awards at the annual reception of the spring semester student art exhibit on Monday, May 6. Students from all levels of studio art classes displayed a selection of their work completed during the spring semester.

Johnson County students who received awards include:

Eric Walthour, of Franklin, received the Best in Show Award, the top honor of the evening, for his advanced ceramics entry, which also garnered an Award of Excellence.  He also received an Honorable Mention for drawing. In addition, he received a Rinker Scholarship.

Hannah Jackson, of Greenwood, received an Award of Excellence for design I, and an Honorable Mention for fine art photo I.

Brooke Bailey, of Greenwood, received an Award of Merit for 3D foundations.

Spencer Fears, of Trafalgar, received an Award of Merit for ceramics I.

Kendra Shirrell, of Greenwood, received an Award of Merit for 3D foundations, and an Award of Merit for design I.

Sue Stauffer, of Franklin, received an Award of Merit for advanced painting.

Noah Chaplin, of Greenwood, received an Honorable Mention for ceramics I.

Maggie Eley, of Bargersville, received an Honorable Mention for ceramics I.

Kassian Frey, of Franklin, received an Honorable Mention for design I.

Caitlyn Moore, of Greenwood, received a Hibbs Scholarship.

Gabriella Sherry, of Franklin, received an Honorable Mention for advanced painting. She also received a Rinker Scholarship.

Central Indiana students who received awards include:

Kianna Jarrett, of Coatesville, received an Award of Excellence for color and design.

Collin Sanders, of Plainfield, received an Award of Excellence for advanced painting.

Karina Sebastian, of Shelbyville, received an Award of Excellence for ceramics I.

Lal Tlang, of Indianapolis, received an Award of Excellence for design I.

Aidan Asher, of Shelbyville, received an Award of Merit for fine art photo I.

Kathryn Brown, of Noblesville, received an Award of Merit for advanced ceramics and a Purchase Award.

Garrett Fogle, of Brownsburg, received an Award of Merit for advanced painting.

Maddie Holubik, of Brownsburg received an Award of Merit for advanced fine art photo.

Sarah Mendoza, of Indianapolis, received an Award of Merit for advanced design.

Hayden Kermode, of Shelbyville, received an Honorable Mention for fine art photo I.

Reis Warrum, of Speedway, received an Honorable Mention for advanced design. 

Northwestern Indiana students who received awards include: 

Claire Ecenbarger, of Mulberry, received an Award of Excellence for 3D foundations, and an Honorable Mention for fine art photo I.

Celeste Hollis, of Granger, received an Award of Excellence for drawing.

Charlie Garcia of Frankfort, received an Honorable Mention for color and design.

Matthew Johnson, of Griffith, received an Honorable Mention for design I.

Northeastern Indiana students who received awards include:

Kairo Avila-Parks, of Anderson, received an Award of Merit for drawing.

South Central Indiana students who received awards include: 

Maggie Abshire, of Columbus, received an Award of Excellence for advanced design.

Emma Mills, of Columbus, received an Award of Excellence for advanced fine art photo.

Tristan Reeves, of Columbus, received an Honorable Mention for 3D foundations, and an Honorable Mention for Ceramics I.

Southern Indiana students who received awards include:

Cailyn Baechle, of Paoli, received an Award of Merit for color and design.

Lucas Densford, of Sellersburg, received an Award of Merit for design I.

Nathaniel Hoffman, of Jeffersonville, received an Honorable Mention for design I.

Payton Lock, of Madison, received an Honorable Mention for drawing.

Brady Mack, of Lexington, received an Honorable Mention for advanced fine art photo.

Out of State students who received awards include:

Theo Sasso De Carvalho Costa, of San Paulo, Brazil received an Award of Merit for fine art photo I.

Katelyn Duff, of Germantown, Ohio, received an Honorable Mention for advanced design.

Kathryn Marshall, of Cincinnati, Ohio, received an Honorable Mention for advanced ceramics, and an Honorable Mention for advanced painting.
