Pursue a minor in coaching to gain skills and knowledge for a career in athletic coaching. Core courses include Concepts of Wellness, First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Introduction to Strength and Conditioning Methods, Sport and Exercise Psychology, and Introduction to Teaching and Coaching Physical Activities. The program culminates in a Coaching Practicum for hands-on experience. Students also choose elective courses such as Basic Principles of Nutrition, Personal Leadership Skills or coaching specific sports like volleyball, basketball, baseball, football, soccer, swimming, or track and field, allowing them to personalize their coaching interests. This minor provides a foundation in coaching, ensuring that students are well-prepared to lead and inspire athletes.
