The sports and fitness management major offers a unique blend of business, exercise science and journalism courses, providing students with a diverse set of skills for the rapidly growing sports and fitness industry. Through hands-on experiences, students develop expertise in areas including event planning, fitness program development and sports data analysis. Classes such as Principles of Accounting, Sport Psychology, Sports Ethics and Risk Management and Sports in Society equip students with the knowledge and practical skills to excel in roles like sports team management, fitness facility operations and sports media. This interdisciplinary approach provides students with a competitive edge in the job market upon graduation.
Immerse yourself in Indiana’s sports community with hands-on internships
Outside the classroom, students can explore research ventures within the exercise science department or explore global health and sports through study abroad programs in Ireland, Greece, South America or other countries. Join student organizations or one of our college sports as an athlete, student coach or manager. Our students can kick-start their career journeys with internships starting as early as sophomore year, enabling them to network, meet industry professionals and learn new skills. Sports and fitness management students have opportunities to apply classroom learning in the real world, including internships throughout Indiana, a renowned sports hub.
