Shaping his Experience
Nic Whitecotten, a Greenwood, Ind. native, chose Franklin College because he wanted to remain close to his family while gaining some independence.
Whitecotten, who will graduate in 2026, is a double major in accounting and business finance with a minor in data science. Along with attending his major classes he has benefited from attending classes outside of his majors because of Franklin College’s liberal arts curriculum. One of those classes was the Intercultural Honors Experience course, commonly referred to as IHE.
“It was a really hard class, but I learned a lot and it prepared me for the rest of college, probably more than anything else.” — Nic Whitecotten ’26
IHE also provides its students with the opportunity to apply for scholarships for international travel. If he decides to spend a semester abroad, he may have part of the cost covered because of his participation in IHE.
Along with his academic pursuits, Whitecotten is active in the Kappa Delta Rho fraternity as the vice president, a member of the Order of Omega, a supplemental instructor for an accounting course and a Launch mentor. He enjoys being involved in so many campus activities, whether they are social in nature or academic.
“I love how I can make my experience at Franklin exactly what I want it to be. I wouldn’t have gotten those opportunities at other schools, both academically and socially. I’m having fun being involved,” said Whitecotten.
