Franklin College

Encouraged and Pushed to Pursue Opportunities

Caleb Crockett '26 said Franklin College has helped him get out of his shell.

From a young age, Caleb Crockett enjoyed spending time on Franklin College’s campus since his mother had attended here. However, the family connection did not make the Whiteland native’s college experience any less personal. In fact, he has experienced immense personal development since becoming a Grizzly.

“Franklin has really helped me get out my shell. You are genuinely encouraged and pushed to pursue opportunities. There are people who care about you and want to push you out of your comfort zone. I’ve learned to push through being uncomfortable and have become better because of it.” — Caleb Crockett ’26

Along with personal development, Crockett has benefited from strong connections with his peers and professors, which have helped him get the most out of his college experience.

Crockett, who is majoring in multimedia journalism and sports communications, did not begin college as a double major, but talking with his advisor helped him understand how the two fields are closely related academically.

“I realized how many classes overlap with sports communications and multimedia journalism, and decided, why not?” Crockett said.

He also uses the skills he gains in class as an anchor for Franklin Media Newscasting, a student-run newscast accessible via TheFranklinnews.com. He plans to pursue a career in sports casting or sports radio after graduating in the spring of 2026.
