Organic Chemistry — Methodology Research
What do you enjoy most about teaching your subject?
Organic chemistry is facinating!! To learn how bonds are formed and the way electrons move, it’s like a new and exciting puzzel every single day. But organic chemistry goes beyond learning how molecules are put together because I also get to teach them problem-solving skills that they can take with them no matter what career path they choose!
How do you support students in learning challenging material?
Unfortunately, organic chemistry has a reputation of being a very challenging course. And yes, it is a challenge, but one we will work at and overcome together. I provide students with many resources: textbook problems, worksheets, in class practice, and of course myself! My office door is always open, and I am happy to re-explain concepts in a variety of ways. I meet students where they are, and we work together to close the gap in their understanding to continue to grow as learners.
