“My teaching philosophy is grounded in my identity as a lifelong learner. I approach teaching as a reciprocal process—one that requires continual reflection, adaptation, and humility. I take time to understand each student’s individual goals, experiences, strengths, and learning preferences, as these elements shape how they engage with course material. To effectively meet diverse student needs, I believe in fostering a dynamic studio environment where students and instructors learn from one another. This mindset keeps me curious and open, consistently expanding my own knowledge and perspectives. My goal is to create inclusive learning spaces through music that empower students and support their academic AND personal growth!”

What can you gain from a musical education?

Anyone can benefit from having a background in music- even individuals who don’t wish to pursue music professionally! There are personal development benefits (confidence, stress management, communication skills) as well as cognitive development benefits (memorization skills, fine motor skills, analytical and critical thinking skills, language processing) that can be attributed to learning an instrument or learning about music. What better way to test these benefits than with the instrument you were born with? Find out what your voice can do for you!

Selected Professional Accomplishments

Devyn’s passion and expertise for performance continually grows with each opportunity she reaps. Most recently, Devyn performed as the lead role of Jenny in Longy’s production of Ned Rorem’s Three Sisters who are not Sisters. She has also appeared as La Fée in Longy’s production of Massenet’s Cendrillon as well as chorus of Rachel Portman’s The Little Prince, also produced by Longy. Devyn has performed in numerous solo and choral concerts and received second place for classical and third place musical theater repertoire at the National Association of Teaching Singing competition in Indiana in 2022. She has also done professional vocal work with Churches in Boston and Indianapolis over the years.

An experienced and eager educator, Devyn has taught many students of varying ages, experiences, and genres. She is now teaching with Amy Dancz Voice and music studio in Boston, while maintaining her own private studio. Devyn takes an empathetic and technical approach to teaching voice, prioritizing fun! She believes in order for a student to find technique that works for their unique goals and voice, they must be comfortable enough to make sounds they may not like. Devyn helps students explore their voice in first creating a safe space to experiment followed by using her knowledge of efficient vocal production to form well informed and joyful singers!
