Extensive professional workshop series

The Office of Career and Professional Development hosts dozens of workshops every year, giving students ample opportunities to prepare for life after college. These workshops and events help students become successful in their internships, first full-time job or graduate school. They also equip students with the core skills needed to secure gainful employment and thrive in the modern workplace. Workshop topics and events include:

Real-World Experience

Every Franklin College student participates in at least one internship, and the Office of Career and Professional Development actively helps students find and secure internships in Indianapolis and around the world. Past Franklin College students have interned with:

In addition to interning at leading corporations and nonprofit organizations, many Franklin College students choose to participate in summer undergraduate research projects at major research institutions. These opportunities are facilitated by the college’s faculty and staff, who have professional connections around the country.

• Franklin College students are “homegrown;” 93 percent come from Indiana.
• Franklin College students buck the “brain drain” trend. Typically more than 80 percent of Franklin College graduates work or attend graduate school in Indiana after graduation.
• Franklin College students are experienced! 100 percent of graduates do at least one formal internship before graduation and most do two or more or participate in an undergraduate research experience.
• Franklin College business students have scored in the top 5 percent in the nation on the Major Field Achievement Test five out of the last six years. This test is administered at 400 colleges and universities across the country to more than 70,000 students.

Leadership & Professional Development add value to the Liberal Arts Education

Franklin College requires leadership and professional development programs to complement and enhance the students’ academic education. Leadership and professional development competencies are integrated throughout the curriculum and prepare students to lead and contribute in our society by providing them with a structured learning experiences and opportunities for practical application and reflection on leadership. These programs are designed to equip students with competencies and resources to make a confident, successful transition from college to the professional workplace and/or graduate/professional school.

• Post jobs on Handshake in addition to exploring other options with the office of career development. E-mail or fax position openings, and we will maximize your exposure by posting them on our job postings website, emailing prospective students and providing information from our office.
• Internships are a central focus of the Franklin College students’ career search. Nearly 100 percent of graduating seniors participate in a formal internship program before graduation. Students complete internships throughout the year; the majority are during Immersive Term.
• Job fairs assist you to connect with Franklin College students in an easy and cost-effective manner. We host an internship fair in October each year to match candidates with potential internship hosts in Indiana. Franklin College also participates with 12 other colleges and universities to sponsor Accounting Interview Day, the Indiana Means Business Job Fair, Collegiate Career Expo and Teacher Candidate Interview Day. • Interact with our students and promote your organization by recruiting on campus. You may gain name recognition on campus by conducting screening interviews, providing information sessions to Franklin College students, talking with students in various classes and speaking at career development and professional development programs on campus.
