Franklin College is proud to announce that two of its Greek organizations have received significant national awards, highlighting their dedication to excellence, leadership and service.
Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE), Indiana Alpha Chapter, has been awarded two 2024 national awards:
Chapter Achievement Award: This prestigious recognition acknowledges the chapter’s exemplary performance in reflecting the high ideals, values and goals of the fraternity. Franklin’s chapter is one of only 15 in the nation to earn the award.
Outstanding Chapter Housing Award: This recognition celebrates the chapter’s outstanding efforts in advancing and managing their housing facilities while prioritizing the safety and well-being of their members.
“These national awards represent an acknowledgement from the national fraternity of the efforts made by Indiana Alpha Chapter of SAE in engaging with the entire campus community in a positive manner, as well as establishing higher expectations and standards within the brotherhood,” said Tom Armor, the chapter’s campus adviser.
Founded in 1892, Indiana Alpha is the second-longest continuously operating SAE chapter in the nation. SAE members at Franklin College embody the fraternity’s core values of loyalty, honor, friendship, and fraternity. Their signature initiatives include an annual Movember Mustache Competition to support men’s health and the “True Gentlemen Day of Service” during Franklin’s Clean Community Challenge. They also co-sponsor the Spring Campus Spelling Bee with Brother-to-Brother.
Zeta Tau Alpha (ZTA), Beta Theta Chapter, has been awarded the 2024 Collegiate Crown Chapter Award recognizing it for upholding the highest standards of excellence within the ZTA organization.
The chapter is renowned for its commitment to leadership, academic achievement and community service. It hosts several high-impact events, including Pink Out games at athletic events and the annual Big Man on Campus (BMOC) competition to support breast cancer education and awareness. Additional initiatives include a 5K race, Think Pink Week, and participation in the Indianapolis Race for the Cure and the Indianapolis Colts’ Breast Cancer Awareness game.
“The Crown Chapter Award is awarded to chapters that display excellence in all areas: membership, operations, programming and leadership,” said Brenda Ferguson, the chapter’s campus adviser. “For the women of Beta Theta to achieve this award shows the commitment of the entire membership to strive for the high ideals of the Fraternity and to work together toward this goal.”
Zeta Tau Alpha is an international women’s fraternity founded on October 15, 1898, in Virginia. It currently has more than 300,000 initiated members. It emphasizes personal growth and academic success, requiring a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in high school for membership eligibility.
“Franklin College takes great pride in supporting Greek organizations that exemplify leadership, service and academic excellence,” said Andrew Jones, vice president for student development and dean of students. “These awards reflect the unwavering dedication and efforts of our members, advisers, and alumni who play a vital role in enriching the vibrancy of Greek life on campus.”
