Franklin College has announced the appointment of Kevin J. Brown as vice president and chief financial officer.

Brown most recently served as associate vice president for finance, controller and treasurer at Muskingum University in New Concord, Ohio, where he has worked for the past six years. In that role, he provided leadership for the university’s financial operations and strategic financial planning.

Prior to joining Muskingum University, Brown served in finance, accounting and analytics roles with several organizations, including New Flyer Industries and DHL Supply Chain.

Brown earned a bachelor’s degree, graduating cum laude, from Mount Union College with majors in accounting and business administration, concentrations in quantitative analysis and economics, and a minor in information systems. He also holds a master’s degree in financial economics from Ohio University.

“We are excited to welcome Kevin into the Franklin College community.  He brings a wealth of experience in private business and higher education to our senior leadership team. Most importantly, Kevin’s colleagues have emphasized his strengths of collegiality, communication skills and collaborative decision-making, which are essential within our institutional culture,” said Franklin College President Kerry Prather.

As vice president and chief financial officer, Brown will provide leadership for the College’s financial operations and help advance Franklin College’s strategic priorities and long-term sustainability.

“It is a privilege to join Franklin College,” said Brown. “This is a special place with a deep sense of purpose and community. I appreciate the confidence President Prather and the Board have placed in me and I look forward to working collaboratively across campus to strengthen the institution’s foundation. Long-term stability is essential to expanding student opportunity and advancing the College’s mission, and I’m honored to support that work.”

Brown began his new role at Franklin College on July 27.
