2018 Give to GRIZ LogoThe sixth annual giving day, #GivetoGRIZ, was held on April 19 and was the most successful giving day to date.

A total of $134,245 was raised, a 16.5 percent increase from last year, and 974 donors participated, an increase of 19.1 percent from last year.  The college achieved 100 percent participation from its alumni council and accumulated over $78,000 with challenge dollars.

“Our #GivetoGRIZ campaign is a wonderful example of the Franklin community coming together in support of our collective mission,” said Dana Cummings, vice president for development and alumni engagement. “The 24-hour campaign was a tremendous success thanks to the 974 donors who opted to show their support via philanthropy. The energy on campus and throughout the Franklin College community during the campaign was palpable. We are grateful! Go Griz.”

The money raised during this event will go toward the Franklin Fund to help provide tuition assistance for Franklin College students that qualify for assistance. Ninety-five percent of Franklin College students receive some form of financial aid, many of whom would not otherwise be able to afford a college education.

The staff involved in putting this event together used social media, especially Facebook and Twitter, to market this 24-hour fundraising event.

The one-day giving challenge began in 2013, and earned the office of development and alumni engagement a silver award in their district from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).

Donors wishing to make a bequest during the college’s current fiscal year have until June 30 to make a donation.  To give online, visit franklincollege.edu/giving/ or call (317) 738-8040.
