Endowed Fund Established to Support Part-Time Students
Campus News

Franklin College announced the establishment of the Dr. Mary Margaret Partenheimer Webb Part-Time Student Endowed Award.  The $25,000 endowment will generate scholarship funds for selected part-time students attending the college.

The fund was established by Judy J. Webb in loving memory of her mother and 1959 Franklin College alumna Dr. Mary Margaret Partenheimer Webb. Mary Margaret was an elementary school teacher and administrator for more than thirty years with a deep passion for education. That, coupled with her mother’s love for Franklin College, inspired Judy to honor her mother’s memory by establishing the endowed fund.

The inspiration for the nature of the endowment came from Judy’s own life experience.

“As a full-time mother of three young children, I could only attend college part-time, which eliminated my eligibility to receive any scholarships,” said Judy.  “I wanted to honor my mother’s commitment to education and assist students who like me, are motivated to achieve their career dreams but need to do it on their own timetable.”

Mary Margaret was a lifetime gift club member at the college who also endowed three different scholarships herself.
