Gifts Support Marketing Stimulus in Indy Metro Area
Campus News

Franklin College announced it has received gifts from two donors, Katharine Kruse, an Indianapolis business entrepreneur and board of trustees member, and Eleanor T. Ackley, a Florida business entrepreneur and 1971 alumna of the college, designated to expand the college’s marketing efforts in the Indianapolis metropolitan area.

“These generous gifts have a tremendous impact on both our ability to recruit future students and engage with our alumni,” said Kate Coffman, vice president and dean of admissions and financial aid.  “Increased marketing and visibility of the Franklin College brand is a key feature of the college’s strategic plan. We couldn’t accomplish it without our alumni and trustees supporting the college with powerful financial gifts.”

The college launched a new brand strategy anchored on the pillar of “Relentlessly Pursue” in August of 2017.  It speaks to the college’s varied and immersive experiences that build on a strong, active and tailored liberal arts and sciences education, putting students in control of their future.

“These gifts will help us increase awareness of the college and develop a stronger partnership with the Indianapolis business community,” said Franklin College President Thomas J. Minar, Ph.D.  “Our strategic plan involves enrollment growth and the promise of offering a distinct curriculum. These gifts will help us accomplish those goals, and we are very grateful to Katie and Ellie for their investment and support.”

This is the fourth gift announcement the college has made in the last month, totaling more than $2.6 million.

“We have so many wonderful things happening at the college right now,” said Minar.  “We just opened the college’s first-ever Graduate Health Science Center and are only months away from completion of the new Franklin College Science Center.  We are also in the early stages of rolling out a distinctive campus-wide curriculum and on the cusp of launching our second master’s program.  None of these things would be possible without the incredible support of our donors.  As we head into our 2018 Homecoming and Alumni Weekend, we have much to be grateful for and celebrate.  It’s truly a great time to be a Grizzly.”
