The highlights of Homecoming Alumni Weekend festivities include:
2018 Indianapolis Prize Lecture, Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m.
Franklin College is proud to host the first of six lectures in the prestigious 2018 Indianapolis Prize Lecture Series, presented by the Indianapolis Zoological Society, Inc. The lecture, “Biodiversity Conservation: A Global Priority,” will be presented by the 2018 Indianapolis Prize Winner, Dr. Russell A. Mittermeier, in the Branigin Room of the Napolitan Student Center. The lecture is free, but registration at www.franklincollege.edu/indianapolis-prize-lecture is appreciated.
Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet, Thursday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m.
Alumni and friends are invited to join the celebration of a long tradition of athletic excellence. Alumni The Honorable Robert D. Schafstall ’66, Katie Tewell Brinker ’08 and Darrel Heuchan ’78 will be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. The banquet will be held in the Branigin Room of the Napolitan Student Center. Cost is $20 per person and registration is required.
Roy E. Tillotson Alumni Golf Tournament, Friday, Sept. 28 at 11 a.m.
The Roy E. Tillotson Alumni Golf Tournament will be held at Hillview Country Club in Franklin. Registration begins at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start at noon. The registration fee of $75 per player includes green fees, cart, dinner and tournament prizes. Registration is required.
Old Gold Reception and Luncheon, Friday, Sept. 28 at 11:30 a.m.
Honoring the 50th year reunion class (1968), this traditional reception and luncheon is open to all alumni graduating prior to 1968. Cost is $12 per person and registration is required. Members of the class of 1968 will receive two complimentary tickets at the door. The luncheon will be held in the Dietz Center Dining Room in the Dietz Center for Professional Development.
Hail to Franklin Alumni Awards Presentation and Reception, Friday, Sept. 28 at 6 p.m.
Join President Thomas J. Minar in presenting the 2018 Alumni Awards in Hamilton Auditorium in B.F. Hamilton Library. Since 1954, the Alumni Council of Franklin College has had an established award program designed to honor alumni and friends of the college, recognizing outstanding professional/community achievement as well as service to the college. Those to be honored include Susan (Henry) Barnard ’66 and James “Wes” Cunningham ’87. An hors d’oeuvres reception will immediately follow at the President’s House. Cost is $15 per person and registration is required.
Traditional Burning of the Privy, Friday, Sept. 28 at 8:45 p.m.
Join students and fellow alumni for the annual privy burn at the corner of Monroe and Forsythe streets.
Graduate Health Science Center Open House, Saturday, Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. to noon
Come tour the newly renovated facility located in the lower level of 2085 Acorn Blvd. in Franklin and meet the faculty for both master’s programs – the Master of Science in Athletic Training and the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies.
Grizzly Football vs. Rose-Hulman Fightin’ Engineers, Saturday, Sept. 29 at 1:30 p.m.
The Homecoming football game will be played at Stewart “Red” Faught Stadium where the Grizzlies will take on the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Crowning of the Homecoming king and queen will be held at halftime. Admission to the game is $5 per person at the gate.
