College Welcomes Guest Pianist to Campus

Aleksey Artemyey Franklin College’s music department will welcome guest pianist Aleksey Artemyey to perform on Tuesday, March 5, at 7 p.m. in Richardson Chapel. This event is free and open to the public.

Born in Uzbekistan, Artemyev studied at the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan as a teenager before earning a full scholarship to the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. He is currently a doctoral candidate in piano performance at Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University.  He will perform works by Bach and Brahms.

Artemyev is the prize winner of numerous piano competitions and the recipient of several awards in outstanding achievements in music and piano. He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician throughout his native Uzbekistan and the United States.

Artemyev is a consummate soloist, passionate collaborator and pedagogue. His artistic credo is reaching out to the widest range of audiences and advocating the importance of music in our modern world.
