The Franklin College Business Department’s senior class continued a long-standing tradition of excellence on the Major Field Test (MFT). This year’s cumulative class score ranked Franklin College in the top seven percent among 496 U.S. colleges and universities that use the test. The test was administered to 69,017 students throughout the country.
As a requirement for their degree, senior business majors at Franklin have taken the MFT since 1992. The exam tests a student’s ability to retain and apply the knowledge gained in their business, economics and accounting classes. The department has a long streak of performances that place in the top 10 percent in the nation each year.
“The serious and careful work that our soon-to-graduate business program seniors have put in their academics here at Franklin College has paid off again,” said Steven Scheer, associate professor of economics and business. “We are happy to report that this group of seniors has scored in the top seven percent in the country on the standardized exam. Their success is in large part because of the good work done not only by them but by faculty and staff members all across the campus. These business seniors will leave us not only well trained in skill sets necessary for today’s marketplace, but just as importantly, prepared for tomorrow’s opportunities. The excellent exam score results are a testament to their skill and preparedness.”
