American Baptist Liaison Assistant Appointed at Franklin College

Rev. Rebecca Horstman MayFranklin College has announced the appointment of Rev. Rebecca Horstman May as the American Baptist Liaison Assistant at the college.

Horstman May brings more than 30 years of ministry experience to the position. Her role will include coordinating recruitment efforts among congregations of the American Baptist Churches USA, with whom the college has a historic affiliation, and working with the campus chaplain to support the college’s students, faculty and staff.

“Rebecca brings a tremendous knowledge of American Baptist Churches, relationships cemented over the years with church leadership, and the ability to connect well with college-bound students and their parents,” said Thanda Maceo, vice president for strategic enrollment and marketing. “As a Franklin College graduate and leader in the ABC community, Rebecca will be a valuable member of our team.”

“I am excited and blessed to have the opportunity to further connect students from American Baptist Churches with the quality education of Franklin College,” said Horstman May.

Horstman May serves as pastor of Celebration Fellowship, a mission-focused house church in Noblesville.  She has served as president of the region boards of both American Baptist Churches of Indiana and Kentucky and American Baptist Churches of Greater Indianapolis. She has also served as pastor of Elizaville Baptist Church, as a chaplain at IU Medical Center, and a seminary intern at Indianapolis First Baptist Church where she was ordained in 1992.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and sociology from Franklin College in 1981 and a Master of Divinity from the Christian Theological Seminary in 1991.

Horstman May began working at the college on February 22, 2021.
