Meet Camryn Allen

Immersive Internships

The Best Thing That Could Have Ever Happened

As Camryn Allen, a passionate musician and educator, progressed through her college journey, she felt content with classes and life at Franklin College, but something was missing. Camryn, who graduated in 2022, found that missing link through a research internship.

When she heard that sociology professor Dr. Jason Jimerson was searching for a student to help with a music-based research project, she jumped at the opportunity.

During the summer of 2021, Camryn traveled all over the state of Indiana learning, watching and writing about the blues community in Indiana. Throughout the process, she discovered a community that welcomed her with open arms. She met musicians who played with legends like B.B. King and James Brown, all in her home state.

By the end of the internship, Camryn had even performed with several blues groups, combining her love for music with new skills, particularly in research methods. The connections she made that summer forever shaped her future as a musician and educator. Some of the musicians she met that summer played at her senior recital in the spring of 2022.

You, too, can discover your passion and the next step on your career path at Franklin College.
