What are your application deadlines?

We accept applications on a rolling basis. International students should apply at least 60 days before the start of classes to allow sufficient time for obtaining an F-1 student visa.

What documents do I need to apply?

After you submit your online application, a school official should send all secondary school academic records via email or hard copy. These records should include all courses taken, grades received, and degrees or certificates earned. An explanation of the school’s grading system used to evaluate coursework should accompany your records. Records must be translated to English and sent via email to admissions@FranklinCollege.edu or mailed to

What are your English proficiency test score requirements?

We accept the following English test scores for international applicants:

TOEFL: Minimum score of 79 on the Internet Based; 550 on the Paper Based
IELTS: Minimum score of 6.5
Cambridge English: Minimum B2 level
MELAB: Minimum writing 77, minimum speaking 3. In lieu of an exam, applicants may complete the master level course with a passing score.
Duolingo: Minimum score of 105
Pearson: Minimum score of 53
ELS: Complete level 112 with passing score
TLC: Complete level 9 with passing score

Do you require the SAT or ACT?

Franklin College is test optional. We encourage international student to take the SAT or ACT and submit scores, as these provide additional support for your application. For SAT, the average admit earns a score of 1000 – 1180. For the ACT, the average admit earns 20 – 26.

As an international student, can I receive credit for previous college-level work?

After paying your deposit, you can submit your transcript to the Office of Academic Records to see if the course and grade earned are eligible to receive transfer credit. Your school must email your final transcript to Records@FranklinCollege.edu

How much does it cost to attend Franklin College?

International and domestic students are charged the same tuition and fees at Franklin College. Visit the tuition and financial aid page to learn more.

Do you offer scholarships for international students?

Yes, scholarships are available to all undergraduate international students. We offer a renewable scholarship up to $29,000 USD per year toward your education at Franklin College. No additional application is required to qualify. Exchange and sponsored students cannot be considered for this scholarship.

Is financial aid an option for me?

We are not able to offer financial aid to international students. However, scholarships are available to all international undergraduate degree-seeking students with a record of high academic achievement. Contact your admissions counselor for details on available scholarships.

Do I have to submit proof of finances in order to attend Franklin College?

To ensure you are financially prepared to live in the U.S. during your program of study and academic breaks, we require all international students to provide statements demonstrating their ability to pay for one full year of educational expenses. Students must submit financial proof and complete the Statement of Financial Support Form.

What documents are accepted as financial proof?

Your submitted financial proof can include the following:

• Bank statements indicating required currency amount in liquid asset form (cash deposits, certificates of deposit, savings accounts)
• Investment statements indicating liquid assets (submissions need to include clear evidence of the funds liquidity and the cash surrender value)
• Scholarship letters
• Lines of credit
• Government funding

Are there any documents that should not be submitted as financial proof?

Unacceptable financial proof documents include:

• Chartered accountant statements
• Payroll reports/expected income
• Tax statements
• Property assessments
• Bank statements lacking currency amounts
• Insurance policies
• Statements regarding property, jewelry, cars and other non-liquid assets

If full or partial funding is coming from personal sources such as family, friends and/or scholarship agencies, more documentation is required. Your admissions counselor can provide additional details on financial proof documents.

When should tuition be paid?

Payment of tuition, fees, and room and board are due on the date indicated on your bill. Contact the Franklin College Business Office with payment questions.

Can you issue an I-20 to an international student?

Once an international student has been admitted and paid the one-time enrollment deposit, we will begin preparing the I-20. Your I-20 will be distributed by the Office of Admissions.

How do I apply for an F-1 student visa?

Upon the receipt of your I-20, you can apply for your student visa. Schedule an interview at your local U.S. Embassy or consulate nearest to you in your home country to apply for your F-1 student visa.

How do I travel to Franklin College?

Most international students choose to arrive at the Indianapolis International Airport (IND), located approximately 40 minutes north of Franklin College. We can offer transportation from IND with advance notification. Please send your flight arrival information to studentsuccess@FranklinCollege.edu.

What should I bring with me?

The International Student Guide contains a detailed list of items you will want to bring along during your travels, as well as those you will want to purchase for your stay at Franklin College.

Do I need medical insurance? How do I obtain insurance and what is the cost?

Health insurance is an important asset to have, especially in the case of an emergency. Medical costs in the U.S. can be expensive, and health insurance helps to offset these costs. While it is strongly encouraged for all students, health insurance is not required for our non-athlete students. (Athletes are required to have health insurance).

What are your academic terms?

The primary academic semesters at Franklin College are fall and spring. The fall semester begins at the end of August, and the spring semester begins in the first week of February. To maintain full-time status and graduate on time, students should plan on taking at least 12 credit hours (4 courses) every semester.

Can I take classes during the summer?

Please make plans with your academic adviser if you would like to take summer courses. It is unlikely you will be eligible for scholarships during summer months. Costs will vary depending on the number of credit hours you decide to take. Up-to-date summer course descriptions and costs can be found in the Academic Course Catalog.

What is Immersive Term?

Immersive Term spans the month of January and provides students the opportunity to take interactive, non-traditional courses, study away or complete an internship. Students must take a minimum of two Immersive Term courses before graduation. Additional details can be found on the Immersive Term page.

As an international student, can I study English at Franklin College?

No, Franklin College currently does not offer an ESL program.

Is on-campus housing available for international students?

Yes! Admitted students will receive information in their Franklin College email to complete the New Student Checklist, which opens access to housing forms.

How do I find a roommate?

Students living on-campus will be assigned a roommate based upon the information provided in their housing application. If you would like to be paired with a friend, you must both request each other on the housing application. We encourage international students to live with domestic students.
