The Franklin College Athletic Department is pleased to announce the addition of the three newest members that make up the 2024 Athletic Hall of Fame class. Kerry Prather, Andy Clark and Capt. Heather (Waterman) Huneycutt, DVM will all be inducted as part of the homecoming weekend festivities this coming fall. A legendary figure as the head of the men’s basketball program, Prather is being inducted as a coach. The leader of the Grizzlies for 37 seasons as head coach, Prather concluded his coaching career after the 2019-20 season with 528 career wins, six conference regular season championships, four Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) tournament titles and six post-season appearances in total.

On four occasions, Prather was named conference Coach of the Year and he guided seven players to league Player of the Year honors during his time on the Franklin sidelines. Two of those players, Jason Sibley and John Holden, would go on to represent Franklin as All-Americans.

Prather retired from coaching as the program’s all-time leader in wins after leading Franklin to a conference championship in 2019-20, assuming duties as Franklin College President, which he still holds to this day.

Clark, Class of 2008, is being inducted as an athlete. One of the best to ever toe the rubber for the Franklin baseball team, Clark finished his four-year career holding several program records that he still holds to this day. A four-time all-conference selection and a two-time all-region pick, Clark still holds Franklin career records with 29 wins, 269 strikeouts and 303.2 innings pitched to go along with a 2.99 earned run average, which ranks second all-time. His 10 wins and 90 strikeouts in 2008 remain the single season record in both categories.

After graduation, Clark went on to pitch professionally in the Frontier League for the Florence Freedom, where he went 37-16 with a 3.72 ERA over 94 games from 2008-13. To this day, he remains in the top-five in Frontier League history in wins and innings pitched and he was inducted into the Frontier League Hall of Fame in 2018.

Waterman, Class of 2011, is being inducted posthumously as an athlete. A member of both the cross country and track and field programs, Waterman closed her career as one of the most decorated distance runners in Franklin’s history. During her senior season, Waterman placed 37^th overall at the 2010 NCAA Cross Country Championships and earned All-America status at the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Track Championships in 2011 by finishing fourth in the 5K race.

Following the end of her senior year, she was named a Second Team Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators and she ended her career as a 16-time all-conference finisher in track and cross country and still holds Franklin’s program record in the 5K race in both cross country and outdoor track and field, as well as the outdoor track 3000m run record.

All three will be officially be inducted into the Franklin Athletic Hall of Fame on Thursday, Sept. 26 and will be joined by Class of 2023 inductee Joel Taylor. The trio will be recognized at halftime of the homecoming football game on Saturday, Sept. 28, when Franklin takes on Ohio Wesleyan at 1:30 p.m.
