International Studies
There are many ways to get an international experience while studying at Franklin College. Students may take part in our new Intercultural Honors Experience, travel during winter term, spend a semester abroad, do an internship or service-learning project, or participate in the intercultural events on campus.
Many study abroad opportunities can be funded through scholarships.

"[I] learned how to handle certain stressful situations ... I was able to see so many historical sites
which made all the stories I’ve heard come to life."

"The experience of learning from another country's perspective is so unique and interesting.
It is completely different from learning about a country in a class in the United States. Not only were
the classes different, but the society as a whole was different."
Leah Sanders '09
Journalism (AD/PR & Visual Comm.) major
Telemark, Norway in Fall 2007
“Studying abroad was the best academic decision I have ever made. Not only did I expand my education,
but I expanded my culture and my personal values. Living in another country for four months makes you
dwell on yourself and where you stand in life. It definitely makes you prioritize. It opens your eyes to different
experiences, and it, basically, changes your life.”Cassie Mitchell '09
Journalism (Broadcast) and French major
Strasbourg, France in Fall 2007
"The paradox of international travel is that the world becomes simultaneously larger and smaller, and there
is really no replacement for experiencing this reality firsthand. I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to do so."
Lauren Bobbitt '09

"I’ve gained a greater sense of independence and feel much more confident in my own abilities.
I’ve come close to figuring out who I am and what I want to do with my life."
Jessica Morris '08
