Dr. George W. Ritteman Endowed Scholarship
Dr. George W. Ritteman was a radiologist at Johnson County Hospital (now Johnson Memorial Hospital) from 1957 until his retirement. Dr. Ritteman is credited with having planned the first X-ray department at the hospital in Franklin. Previously he had been chief radiologist at Bartholomew County Hospital. A World War II veteran, Dr. Ritteman served over five years in the U.S. Army, retiring with the rank of Colonel. Following his death, his widow, Anne Ritteman, established this scholarship at Franklin College in his memory.
The Dr. George W. Ritteman Endowed Scholarship is awarded to students pursing a pre-medical course of study at Franklin College. The pre-med advisor works with the financial aid office to select recipients.
