Arnita L. Petre '81 Memorial Endowed Scholarship

SCHOLARSHIP BACKGROUND

Friends and family of Arnita "Arnie" Petre '81 established this scholarship in 2006 with gifts and matching funds from the Lilly Endowment, Inc., to celebrate the life of Arnie and ensure her legacy would touch generations of Franklin College students. Although Arnie's life was short, her light shines brightly. A devoted friend who spent her lifetime caring for others as an advocate for the disabled and their families, her quest was to enable them to lead independent and productive lives. Arnie also organized athletic teams, social events and group field trips and served as the area director for Special Olympics. It is the hope of her family and friends, that Arnie's lifetime commitment to others will inspire Franklin College students to follow her example.

SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

The first preference for awarding the Arnita L. Petre '81 Endowed Scholarship shall be to assist deserving freshmen students who are first-generation college students. Preference will be given to students who have demonstrated an interest in working with those with special needs. This award will be coordinated by the Office of Financial Aid.
