William & Ruth Kerlin Hibbs Fine Arts Scholarship Award
William and Ruth Kerlin Hibbs were loyal alumni of Franklin College. Mrs. Hibbs was an accomplished artist whose paintings brought her recognition throughout the Midwest. Among her many honors, her paintings earned first place prizes at the Hoosier Salon in 1959 and 1980. She won the Kappa Kappa Kappa Purchase Prize two consecutive years and won a first place at the Hoosier Salon in Chicago for a woodcarving. She was also skilled in porcelain work and hand weaving. Mrs. Hibbs exhibited in Chicago, New Orleans, Mexico and San Francisco. Her paintings are included in the Frank Daily Collection at Indiana University and in the Franklin College Art Collection. This scholarship, in her and her husband's name, honors her talent.
The William and Ruth Kerlin Hibbs Fine Arts Scholarship Award is given to a student in the fine arts department, with first preference going to a student studying visual arts. The recipient is selected by the chair of the fine arts department.
