J and B Friendship Merit Scholarship

SCHOLARSHIP BACKGROUND

Established in 2002 by an anonymous donor, this scholarship provides assistance to worthy Franklin College students by encouraging academic excellence as well as leadership in Franklin College-related activities outside the classroom.

SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

The J&B Friendship Endowed Scholarship will be awarded with first preference to a graduate of Grundy High School in Grundy, Virginia, who meets the following criteria: is a residential student (i.e. lives on campus) and must have graduated in the top 10 percent of his or her high school class and must demonstrate leadership in two extra-curricular activities including, but not limited to, the fine arts, athletics, student government and/or community service clubs. If no appropriate candidate is identified or if endowment earnings exceed one full-tuition award, scholarships of at least $2,500 may be extended to students who meet the same criteria.
