The Denzil Webb Memorial Scholarship in Elementary Education

SCHOLARSHIP BACKGROUND

The Denzil Webb Memorial Scholarship in Elementary Education was established in 2006 through personal gifts from Dr. Mary Margaret Webb '59 and matching funds from the Lilly Endowment, Inc. Lifetime residents of Johnson County, Dr. Mary Margaret Webb and Denzil Webb shared a passion for education and Johnson County. This passion has culminated in the support of a number of institutions of higher learning, and in several local educational projects as well. Dr. Mary Margaret and Denzil Webb were instrumental in the restoration and dedication of the one-room schoolhouse that sits adjacent to Webb Elementary School in Franklin and have been generous benefactors to Franklin College. In memory of her beloved husband and in support of her alma mater, Dr. Mary Margaret Webb has established this scholarship to assist Franklin College students achieve their dreams of becoming teachers.
