Watson Morton Van Nuys and Daisy Branigin Van Nuys Endowed Scholarship
SCHOLARSHIP BACKGROUND
This scholarship was established by Charles Van Nuys of Franklin to honor his parents. Watson and Daisy Van Nuys were well-known and respected farmers in Franklin. Their family farm is located just west of the city and has been recognized as a Hoosier Homestead Farm, meaning it has been owned and operated by the same family for more than 100 years. Watson Morton Van Nuys attended Franklin College and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and the college football team. He married Daisy Branigin in 1902. She also attended Franklin College and was a member of Delta Delta Delta and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mr. and Mrs. Van Nuys' son, Charles, worked the family farm until his death in 1996. He established this scholarship through a bequest.
