Endowed Scholarships

The establishment of an endowed scholarship at Franklin College is one of the finest investments in students that one can make. A decision to endow a scholarship is a commitment which will help continue and assure a strong future for Franklin and its students.

The Franklin College Board of Trustees has established a minimum investment of $50,000 to fund an endowed scholarship.* However, a scholarship may be initiated and named with any amount, as long as the donor makes a commitment to complete the funding through one of a variety of methods. These might include additional outright gifts of cash or stock, life income gifts (annuities and trusts), insurance policies, real estate or bequest through will.

* Two new programs can be endowed with a minimum investment of $25,000:

  • Student scholarships for summer research
  • Student scholarship for internships

Criteria for selecting recipients of the scholarship may be determined by the donor, or, if the donor wishes, the college will provide a standard set of criteria. These criteria might be designated for students living in a specific geographic region or for students who are members of a particular organization, church, religion, etc. Scholarship selection criteria might also be designated for students pursuing an undergraduate degree in a specific area of study or they might require students to maintain a specific grade point average. There is much flexibility with regard to establishing scholarship guidelines.
