Franklin College has announced the appointment of Lori K. Schroeder as provost and dean of the college.
Schroeder comes from Knox College in Galesburg, Ill., where she has served as the associate dean of the college since 2010. She began teaching English at Knox in 1996 and became the department chair in 2003. She also previously taught at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, New York, the University of Illinois and the University of Denver. She has spent her entire professional career at liberal arts institutions.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English literature from Purdue University, a Master of Arts in English literature from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Ph.D. in English language and literature from the University of Denver.
“I am confident Lori will be a great addition to our campus community,” said Franklin College President Thomas J. Minar. “While at Knox, she has demonstrated great leadership of the faculty as a department chair and associate dean of the college, created new programs and initiatives from the ground up, leading to greater student success, and held key roles in working with college administrators. She brings a wealth of experience including supporting faculty development and applying resources to enhance those opportunities, extensive involvement with student persistence efforts linking academic and student affairs, and responsibility for a robust academic advising program.”
Schroeder will begin working at the college on July 17, 2017.
