Who we are:

We are good writers. And so are you. We are faculty and student associates dedicated to helping you build your confidence and improve your written communication during any stage of the writing process.

What we can do for you:

If you’re having trouble understanding one of your assignments, we can explain it.

If you’re not clear about the structure of a paper, we can help you get organized.

If poor grammar or mechanics cloud your ideas, we can help your writing become clear and concise.

If you’re new to proper citation, we’ll get you up to speed.

When is the Write Place open?
We make every effort to meet your scheduling needs by offering afternoon and evening appointments. Visit us from 2:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday and 8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Sunday - Thursday.
How do I make an appointment?
To schedule a 30-minute appointment with a Write Place proctor, log in to myFC and navigate to Departments-Academic Resources. Click the “Schedule an Appointment” button and drop-down to “Write Place”.
Is an appointment required?
Although not required, an appointment is the best way to ensure that you’ll have the best experience when visiting the Write Place. To schedule a 30-minute appointment with a Write Place proctor, log in to myFC and navigate to Departments-Academic Resources. Click the “Schedule an Appointment” button and drop-down to “Write Place”.
What happens during a Write Place consultation?
At the beginning of the session, the Write Place associate will ask you about your assignment and your goals for the appointment. You can expect to focus on two or three areas of concern during your visit. These areas might include grammar, mechanics, organization, structure, idea development, argument support, etc. To get the most out of your session, be sure to bring the writing prompt or assignment with you.
What doesn’t happen during a Write Place consultation?
We don’t offer quick fixes. Instead, we focus on long-term improvement. We also don’t proofread entire papers. We leave that up to you. But we’re happy to help you polish your proofreading skills. Just ask!
Should I wait to come in until I have a finished draft?
No! We welcome you to visit the Write Place at any point in the writing process.
